SCHOOL EDUCATION

School education in Delhi is a crucial component of the city's educational framework, providing foundational knowledge and skills to children and young adults. The system is diverse and extensive, catering to a large population with varying needs and backgrounds. Delhi has Government Schools managed by the Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Kendriya Vidyalayas managed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Private/ Public/ Convent Schools managed by Private entities, trusts, and organizations and Special Schools to cater to children with special needs. These schools offer education under Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) affiliations. While quality of education, extracurricular activities, infrastructure and resources, teacher training and development and specialised Govt. programmes like Mission Buniyaad, Happinesss Curriculum, Desh ke Mentor are some positive features of Delhi school education, inequality of access and overcrowded classrooms are some of its challenges. In a nutshell, school education in Delhi is a dynamic and evolving sector, marked by a blend of government and private efforts to provide quality education to all students.
